Welcome to Simple Scimum!

My name’s Kate and I created this blog to answer the questions children ask about the world around them. It’s inspired by the questions my children ask me about science and nature.

Being asked things like what makes a rainbow?, are snails amazing? and how bright does the moon shine? has reignited my passion for science. I want to enthuse and enlighten young children and help them to channel their curiosity to understand how things work.

Through Simple Scimum, I share some of the great science questions I’ve been asked and my attempts to answer in simple, everyday language. I hope you enjoy them!

I have three science A-levels, a degree in biochemistry and a PhD in protein crystallography.

You can follow me on Twitter @SScimum and use the buttons below to share my blog with any children and grown-ups you know who want to know more about science stuff!
