Why do we fart?
Fart, guff, toot, trump, pass wind or cut the cheese – whatever you call it, everybody does it. Even the Queen… (although she probably saves hers up to do in private)! So my 6-year-old wants to know what are farts and why do we do them?
What’s that smell?
Smelly things are all around us. Some smell nice, others smell horrible. But what makes a smell? And why are some things smellier than others?
How do you catch a cold?
It’s winter time (at least on this side of the world) and my family is on its fourth or fifth cold of the season. But how do you catch a cold? And why are there so many colds around at this time of the year?
Will it snow?
My daughter was hoping for a white Christmas but, given that we live in the warm, south-western corner of England, the chances of snow each winter are small and the likelihood of snow on Christmas Day is even lower. And even though we’ve had days when it’s been cold enough for ice to form on the car windscreen, I don’t think we’ve seen any snowfall for a year or two. So, what has to happen for it to snow?
